SIX PADS 2005 AUTUMN & WINTER COLLECTION - Trend of pet life created by a show (page 29)
SIX PADS held a show "SIX PADS 2005 AUTUMN & WINTER COLLECTION" on July 6 and 7 at "Nishiazabu Dining bar VERANDA" located near Roppongi.
SIX PADS is organized by six companies, Heisei, Kyoritsu shokai, Wing, Choice, Artlist International and anicom, and this time also Showa Chemical joined the show.
Having a show at the dining bar is an exceptional attempt so that the attendances would have gotten hints for making original shops and proposing pets' life as well as enjoyed looking displayed products.
"Though 7 companies displayed the products, it looks as if only one general pet maker's show. I like it. Also it is unexpected pleasure that so many people are coming to the show at the first day in the morning." said Mr. Koichiro Okada, president of Heisei co.

"Top dancer" won two crowns, the first in the history. (page 50)
Hill's-Colgate (JAPAN) Ltd. (president Mr. Yoshio Koshimura) held an awarding ceremony (Hill's award) of hunting dog's sports competition "Field trial" at Japan publishers club in Tokyo on June 23. At the opening, Mr. Kishi, manager of professional channel key account, told "The sales of pet food for breeder are going up, and we will continue to cooperate with Field trial".
The winner of the 7th Hill's award was "Top dancer (owner Mr. Yuichi Omori, handler Mr. Yoshimasa Kobayashi)". Following the winning of "Amateur shooting stake (owner & handler Mr. Yuichi Omori)", Top dancer won two crowns, the first in the history. And "I love heart (owner & handler Mr. Hiroshi Nishikawa)" won "Amateur gundog stake".
"Hill's award is judged from the competitions (holding from May 1 to April 30 next year) authorized by Japan Field Trial Association (JFTA).
"Hill's award was my goal and now I could win. Top dancer also tried hard recovery from injury." The owner of Top dancer, Mr. Yuichi Omori (belong to JFTA Ibaraki) told with deep emotion.

"Goldfish Exhibition" will be held in EXPO 2005 AICHI Japan (page 22)
"Goldfish Exhibition" will be held at Aichi Festival Plaza in Aichi Pavilion Nagakute in EXPO 2005 AICHI Japan from September 9 to September 11. At this Exhibition, a variety of events like to try the Guinness book of records "the world biggest scooping space goldfish (*1)", exhibition of Japan's famous goldfish, free distribution of space goldfish and present of souvenir is planned. The organizer is Yatomi-kingyo-gyogyo-kyodo-kumiai and Yatomi-cho EXPO 2005 AICHI promotion and execution committee. The cooperation is Japan Aquarium Fish Association.
An eye-catcher is "the world biggest scooping space gold fish". It will be more than 120m at total length by joined 10 aquariums and more than 500 attendances can scoop goldfish. More than 70 thousands goldfish will be prepared and 10 thousands participants are expected for three days. As a prize for participation, 8,000 packs of space goldfish and 4,000 Kin-chan cellular phone straps will be handed out. The organizer is advertising for participants making pamphlet "Try the Guinness book records with us". A lot of breeding goods will be displayed and breeding advising corner also set up for participants who get gold fish but don't know how to keep it. An enlightenment of breeding goldfish is also going to be planned.
*1 space goldfish : a descendant of the goldfish which went to space with an astronaut Dr.Chiaki Mukai by Space shuttle "Columbia" in 1994.

Wannyanmura, expands a social contribution activity visiting nursing homes with dogs and cats (page 54)
Now, Wannyanmura Inc. (president Mr.shimma Masamune, Shinjuku-ku Tokyo) is putting a great deal of effort into the spread activities of "pet therapy" and "assistant dogs for the physically impaired ". "We deal with the life, so as a part of social contribution activity, we join them." President Masamune explained.
As for pet therapy spread activity, staff of Wannyanmura visit nursing homes for the aged regularly, having a time to contact with dogs and cats and an enjoyable show. These activities are also called "animal assisted activity" and make use of "therapy effect" which improves the health being formed from the relationship between human and animal. "All staff enjoy this activity." President Masamune said. They are working on a nursing activity under the corporate philosophy, "Through contact with people, pet and society, establish a symbiotic relationship" from now on.
On the other hand, as for assistant dogs for physically impaired activity, they support NPO corporation, Total care Assistant dog Center (TAC, Atsugi-shi Kanagawa). TAC is organized by Ms.Reiko Chiba who introduced assistant dog for the first time in Japan.
They also select candidates for assistant dog and offer pet food every month. Assistant dogs are the trained dogs in order to assist physically impaired people by retrieving objects that are out of their reach or dropped, by opening and closing doors, turning switches on and off, help transferring to wheelchairs, putting on and taking off shoes and clothes, changing positions, etc. And for guide dogs and hearing dogs, they were working on an enlightenment activity and a fund-raising activity at an event of Wannyanmura.

In July, Japan Association of Pet Cemetery and Crematorium was organized. (page 28)
"Japan Association of Pet Cemetery and Crematorium", as a national organization of pet cemetery, was established and had a general meeting at Toranomon Pastoral (Minato-ku Tokyo) on July 11. 12 companies of promoters and 4 of organizers approved it the association was set up. Mr. Akira Terada (a representative director of Union Terada Corporation) assumed the post of president, and as for vice presidents, Mr. Kazumasa Usui (representative director of Memorial Tama) and Mr. Genko Chizuki (chief priest of Kofu dog and cat cemetery) was elected.
At present, the number of member is 16 companies, and they are located Hokkaido, Nigata, Fukushima, Tokyo, Saitama, Yamanashi, Kochi, Ehime, Fukuoka and Oita. The association is going to map out a course for increasing members for every 47 administrative divisions of Japan.
Three special sections which are "General affairs section", "Religious section" and "Environmental section" were founded on that day. General affairs section takes charge of PR activity, publishing a bulletin and research of joint stock. Religious section treats a pet loss problem and environmental section functions as an administrative contact. They are also thinking about international exchange with overseas groups. New section will be established as the occasion demands.

SOLARE HOTELS & RESORTS, support a bringing up of guide dogs  (page 30)
SOLARE HOTELS & RESORTS (president Mr. AG Virili Minatko-ku Tokyo) which manages 37 hotels announced that they started a project to support a bringing up of guide dogs, cooperating with Japan Guide Dog Association (JGDA) on July 13. This project is to watch two candidate guide dogs and aim at improvement in quality of barrier free.
They names two labrador retrievers born in march, "Solare-kun (male / black)" and "Solare-chan (female / yellow)" and support a bringing up of guide dogs. On the web site (http://www.solarehotels.com), a growth record of both dogs was opened to the public on July 13. Also the collection boxes of JGDA are installed in 34 hotels in April and a course which is how to attend to handicapped person and guide dog will be carried out for hotel employees from July.
"We are delighted with this activity, as still some hotels and inns decline a guest who accompany by an assistant dog. We would like to actively cooperate in the course." Mr. Koichi Wakatsuki of JGDA said and welcomes it. "As we are in service industry, the hospitality is important. We would like to continue to support the spread of guide dogs on and after next year, too." said the president Virili.
