Fuzzy as a Philosophy
Prof. Mukaidono has a lecture about "Recommendation of Fuzzy".　(page 42)
Meiji University Pet Industry Club (chairman Koichi Akatsu, Taurus Co.) had a seminar "Recommendation of Fuzzy" lectured by Professor Mukaidono (dean of Meiji University of Science and Technology) at Meiji University Surugadai campus (Chiyoda-ku Tokyo) on September 2. There were 14 members participated the seminar.
Professor Mukaidono is the person who created "Fuzzy boom" in home appliances industry like "fuzzy washing machine" and "fuzzy refrigerator". Fuzzy theory is so useful that the content about seminar covered not only a process of products development but also environmental problem and mediation problem. "To survive an age of Darwinian jungle, we need to help each other. So I hope to study and go forward together.", said chairman Akatsu and emphasized a significance of the seminar.
After the seminar, the members went to the restaurant "Winds" and enjoyed "regular summer evening meeting". Professor Mukaidono also joined it and they exchanged information and promoted mutual friendship.
This time, new members were Ms. Motobayashi (manager of marketing department of Hill's Colgate Japan) and Mr. Sano (manager of planning and research department of Katakura Industries).

Prince Hotels opens "Dog Village" where dog owners can stay with their dogs in Karuizawa　(page 32)
Prince Hotels (president Toshiyuki Ohno, Shibuya-ku Tokyo) which is one of the Seibu group opened "Karuizawa Prince Dog Village" on the premises of Karuizawa Prince Hotel on October 1. There 9 cottages remodeled to stay with dog, dog run (dog excise area) and dog care room where trims dog in the village. Adohoc (president Yasufumi Irie, Minato-ku Tokyo) developing mansion design considering pet care and pet shops took charge of planning.
Karuizawa Prince Dog Village planned as part of creation of Prince Hotel's resort life. The cottage is furnished with dog's paws washing place, dryer and towel. The area of dog run is 1596 square maters and divided two parts. One is 618 square meters for small dogs and the other is 978 square meters for middle-sized and large dogs. Also there are dog care house in the village managed by Adohoc and offers body massage shampoo, spa, trimming and hotel (extra charge). Only the guests can use these facilities. And dogs can stay only Dog Village.
Accommodation charge on weekday is 35,000 yen per person, 15,000 yen each for 4 persons. The day before holiday adds 2,000 yen. The charge includes accommodation for one dog, breakfast, service charge and consumption tax. In case of more than one dog stay, 5,000 yen are added per one dog. Dog food is supposed to be brought by dog owners.
Prince Hotel asks for a guest to sign an agreement about stay rules when the guest uses the Dog Village.

Iris Ohyama, joint development with Sharp　(page 38)
Iris Ohyama (president Kentaro Ohyama, Sendai-shi Miyagi) announced that they developed two type of "air purifier for a family living with pet", "FU-450CX" and "FU-205CX" carrying a fanction to remove germs with a home appliances maker Sharp (president Katsuhiko Machida, Osaka-shi Osaka). They will be out at home centers, home appliances volume sales stores, pet shops and drag stores in all parts of Japan from October 14. Reference over-the-counter price is 40,000 yen for "FU-450CX" and 28,000 yen for "FU-250CX". In addition, Iris Ohyama will bring out an original air purifier "IA-300" for 15,000 yen.

Hokuriku-Uchida holds a memorial exhibition for 10th anniversary.　(page 30)
"18th Pet Product Fair" was held sponsored by Hokuriku-Uchida (president Hidekazu Mizuno) and Ohkoku(president Hirokazu Kuroki) at Hotel Sunroute Komatsu on August 31. This exhibition became Hokuriku-Uchida's 10th anniversary.
President Mizuno said "We could manage through a winding road until now thanks to customers and makers" and expressed his gratitude.
Recently, a sales of living body at pet shops tend to decline, and so as the pet goods and pet food. They asked for maker to make a goods suitable for pet shop to sell and emphasized the importance of specialty at this exhibition.

The Pet (president Atsushi Takeuchi, Ibaragi-shi Osaka) will hold a business talks meeting "The Pet Collection 2005" at Osaka Merchandise Mart building on November 8 and 9 (10:00 to 17:00).
Dog and cat new products for autumn will be displayed aiming at sales expansion of　specialty shop. They plan to set up a corner of grinding scissors and present giveaways.

Choice co.,Ltd(president Toshihiko Miyake, Chiyoda-ku Tokyo) known by "1st Choice" starts to sell super premium food "Exe Choice" in October. Now this company enters into premium food market.
The new product "Exe Choice" pursues the effect of amino acid aiming at "by taking　it with measurable exercise, healthy and hard to fat body will be built."Based on 1st Choice's experience and achievement, "Exe Choice" made it cleared the taste problem, expanding 4 years, and proved by test of external special institution. The company said "As we have studied Japanese breeding environment in many field and narrowed down the target only in Japan's market. That would be the reason of our success." The lineup of this dog food are "for puppy and mother", "for adult" and for aged".

Tokyo Pet Community College carries out an animal assisted activity.　(page 31)
Tokyo Pet Community College (chairman Hiroyuki Hirayama, Tama-shi Tokyo, management: ZECS Pet Community) carried out the animal assisted activity at the home for aged "Bonsejour Nagayama (management: ZECS Community)" on September 13. Instructors at the college, students of pet care welfare department and 6 dogs visited the home and had a contact with the aged.
After introduced dogs, the instructors showed how to touch them and demonstrated "sit" and "lie down". Then the aged enjoyed contact with the dogs. Mrs. Ogawa who joined with her husband said "He become energetic when dogs visited us.", and Ms Kuroda said "I had kept a lot of dogs. I could take a dog for a walk if I were in good health."
As welfare and medical treatment using animals have a relaxation effect and effect on depression, the college and Yokohama Pet Community College have carried out a dog visit activity since 2001. They will continue the activity on once a month basis.

J-HABS recruits students for an instructor course.　(page 34)
NPO Japan human animal bond society (J-HABS: chairman Gen Kato, Shibuya-ku Tokyo) started to recruit the student for "HAB education, the 2nd grade instructor training correspondence course" which trains the HAB education instructors who can help teachers at preschool, elementary school, junior high school and high school. Everyone over 17can attend the course.
This course's purpose is to make use of it for welfare and medical treatment by extending HAB educational program which is supported by science around HAB, just like brain science, veterinary medicine, medical science and child developmental science. The chairman Kato said "Some people insist that you should leave education to education specialist. But I don't think so." and asks for attending the course in many areas' people like not only specialists for education, welfare and medical treatment but also businessmen, housewives and so on. A person who intends to do volunteer activity will be anticipated.
The course is only "the 2nd grade" this time, "the 1st grade" and "the master course" will be held in near future.

Sendai Veterinary Technician School holds "Pet aroma therapy seminar" in November.　(page 30)
Sendai Veterinary Technician School (chairman Saneshige Babazono, Sendai-shi Miyagi) will hold "Pet aroma therapy seminar for dogs and dog owners" on November 5 and 6 at the school. The instructor is Ms. Sanae Nishimura, the president of Theearth Aroma Therapy School. The content of the lecture is about what is the aroma therapy and why it good for pets' stress. The lecture is constructed by two parts. One is "what is aroma therapy" and the other is "pet aroma massage" using a model dog.
Ms. Nishimura has proposed a comfortable life with pets and gentle life with aroma through giving lectures all over the country besides training aroma therapist. Also, cooperated with veterinaries, she enlightens the importance of primary care to pet owners. In addition, she acts as the aroma therapy instructor of Aroma Environment Association of Japan, the instructor of Tokyo Communication arts and the instructor of RAJA.

Solare Hotels & Resorts carries out barrier-free training in cooperation with J.G.D.A　(page 33)
Solare Hotels & Resorts (president A.G. Virili, Minatko-ku Tokyo) that manages 37 hotels had a course for the purpose of improving barrier-free service intended for staff of 16 hotels in the area of Kanto and Tohoku at Chisun Hotel Hamamatsucho on August 30.
This company has carried out a charity project which supports a training of guide dogs and aims at improving barrier-free service, watching over two candidate dogs' training.
The staff had an experience to walk with grasping guide dog's harness and learnt the service at a restaurant in cooperation with J.G.D.A at this course. And the practical training dealing with handicapped person and the aged was carried out by Mr. Makoto Nakazawa who is the representative of Barrier Free Company and the instructor at Rikkyo University.
