Mori-Nyu Sunworld celebrates the 35th anniversary of the company's foundation. (Page 44) Mori-Nyu Sunworld (President Hideo Mori, Shinagawa-ku Tokyo) reaches 35 years this year. This company was established in 1971 as pet food division of Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd. Since established, the company has proposed the healthy eating habits of pet making "pet is family member" as concept and has tackled product development, Morinaga Milk Group's fundamental philosophy "high quality, confidence and safety" for motto. Specially as to dry milk for pet, from dog's and cat's milk on down, small animal's, panda's and bear's milk have been studied and developed and led the pet milk industry. The hardest time in 35 years history was when the contract was canceled by Iams Company in 1996. It was on the verge of a crisis because two third of sales would have been lost. After that, the company thought that an original product would be need, so developed a pet food "Super Gold", further more "Golden Milk", it was basic product, was developed. The adversity waked up the company to make products. Ninth president Mr. Hideo Mori said "By the support from parent company, we are here today. We are hoping to use the research and .development power of parent company and apply these power to pet products. Also we appreciate the good connection with franchised store that predecessors built up." Not pursue quantity but stick to quality is the company's starting point. Celebrating the 35th anniversary of the company's foundation, Mori-Nyu Sunworld takes new step in its tradition.
Dog is popular but bird is? (Page 36) Living bodes of birds have become stock for 2 months though they turned in a week in the heyday. That shows the turnover rate brcome one eighth compared to the golden age. Mr. Torazo Tsubuku, president of Tatebayashi Pet, worries about unpopularity of birds. On the other hand, "Mikamo Sogo Oroshiuri Shizyou or Mikamo General Wholesale Market" of which dogs are center and opens every Thursday is prosperous. And about food, dog food like PYURINA PROPLAN and ukanuba are selling well.
"Aussie Pet Mobile" service starts in March 2006. (Page 39) APM Japan (President Yoshio Fujiyasu, Shibuya-ku Tokyo) announced at a press conference on March 13 that they have started "Aussie Pet Mobile" service, which offers grooming service for dog and cat in March 2006. Aussie Pet Mobile is most successful a franchise pet service in US. APM Japan entered into license contract in Japan with Aussie Pet Mobile located in California. Aussie Pet Mobile was established in 1996 in Australia. In 1999, this business expanded to US and got a reputation as "pet oriented service". And now, the service expands to Canada and Mexico besides 250 cities in 23 stats of US. In Japan, the service has been carried out tentatively, the company is going to advertise for franchisee and expand the service all over the country. President Fujiyasu said, "We are going to run 60 mobiles in this year and 300 mobiles in three years all parts of Japan and we will make an effort to be No.1 in grooming industry by 2010."
P & G is going to sell "Febreze for Pet". (Page 33) P & G is going to sell "Febreze for Pet". It has deodorant and antibacterial effect and the usage is to spray it to pet wear and goods. Deodorant ingredient which is come from corn is compounded in "Febreze for Pet". Also for antibacterial ingredient, an ingredient same as acid contained in vegetables and fruits is compounded. Both body and refiller are open pricing. "Febreze" has a high sales share in deodorant spray category since P & G launched this product all over the country in 1999. "Febreze for Pet" will be sold at supermarkets, home centers, drag stores and pet shops.
Aqua Environment System TOJO opens new showroom (Page 38) Aqua Environment System TOJO (President Hisayuki Tojo, Meguro-ku Tokyo) opened new showroom on March 13. The showroom is used as business foothold for water tank of ornamental fish rental shop, maintenance, warehouse for living body of ornamental fish and goods and office. Upon moving, this company discontinued retail business of ornamental fish and places great importance on franchise business of water tank rental. The showroom is located on Shinagawa-ku and fronts on Yamanote-dori near Tokyu Meguro line "Fudomae station". 300cm's saltwater fish water tank, aquatic plant water tank and terrarium water tank are displayed in the showroom. Ornamental fish and water plant for rent are stocked at the back of the office. This company has expanded business mainly water tank rental business since establishing on July 1995. Targeting medical organizations and ordinary companies, sales from 1996 onward has grown 120-250% compared to the previous year. The company appropriated 70 million yen for fiscal 2004, and started franchise business of water tank rental on October 2005 and continues publicity work for expanding nation wide. The opening fund of franchise is 350 thousand yen. Besides franchise fee, a layout of water tank and a training of maintenance (three weeks) are included in the cost. After the training, franchisees deal with maintenance of water tank, purchasing of living body and water plant and inventory control by themselves. And after opening a shop, franchisees pay royalties for head office of TOJO. If franchisees can not keep a purchasing channel, the head office finds them wholesalers or directly supplies for them. President Tojo said "We had hard time to earn 70 million yen per year by water tank rental business. We offer basics of water tank layout and know-how of expanding sales. This business is also suitable to housewives."
Taurus Corporation develops new fermented soybeans bacterium "TBA-germ". (Page 33) Taurus Corporation (President Koichi Akatsu, Ayase-shi Kanagawa) brought out "Kouso Natto Kin (or enzyme fermented soybeans bacterium)" which supports to built up healthy body this spring. The notable features of this product is a development of new fermented soybeans bacterium "TBA-germ". Compared to ordinary bacterium, it has 10 times size, propagates 10,000 times speed and gives 10,000 times enzyme, so promotes digestion and absorption drastically. This product is patent pending and Mr. Tokuhiko Akatsu in marketing department said, "We already obtained patent in US, Australa, EU, China and Korea." It can drink from both side of cage or circle, so you don't need to replace it. It applies for 350ml, 500ml and 1L pet bottles on the market. And as it can control the quantity of water, from very small dogs to middle size dogs can use it without difficulty. The colors are red, blue and white. The price is 1,680 yen (exclude tax).
Based on the area, new sense of large-scale pet shop opens. (Page 37) MK Suematsu, Inc. (President Makoto Suematsu, Shibuya-ku Tokyo) handling development and management of pet shops and pet amusement facilities opened large-scale pet shop "Inutama-Nekotama Pet Garden" on second floor of East Terrace at Kami-Ohka KEIKYU Department Store (Yokohama-shi Konan-ku Kanagawa) on February 23. As a memorial event of opening, human-dog contact corner was set up. It is composed of six specialty shops - pet goods specialty shop "Inutama-Nekotama Pet Garden" (60.40 square meters), small animals specialty shop "Petit Pet Shop" (9.00 square meters), water plant and ornamental fish specialty shop "Aqua Shop" (9.00 square meters), collar and clothes specialty shop "Osyare Shop" (23.70 square meters), rest and relaxation place "Inutomo Cafe" (10.40 square meters) and selling puppies and kitties and trimming specialty shop "Dog & Cat" (64.90 square meters). STAR-DOG audition starts by major entertainment production. (Page 38) Three companies, SDM (President Satoshi Sugimoto, Minato-ku Tokyo), Individualtainment, Inc.(President Yuji Kusunoki, Minato-ku Tokyo) and design f (President Kanako Otani, Minato-ku Tokyo), started "STAR-DOG" project which is to make a owner's dog star cooperated by CM department of major entertainment production" Stardust-Promotion, Inc". In "STAR-DOG" audition, looking for a dog that can show wonderful performance in TV or movies. If the dog passes the audition, booking is made and get a chance to appear on TV or movies. An audition of drama beginning on July has started already. The purpose of this project is to bring up a talent dog.
