Kawai Trading Co., Ltd. (President Ei Kawai, Nasu-gun Tochigi) breeds stag beetles and beetles, but most of them are stocked from producers. Farmed beetles and stag beetles' collection of cargo began from mid of May this year. This company is located in Kanto area where rich in natural environment. The rate of sales for wild and farmed ones is fifty-fifty throughout the year. The season for collection of cargo starts around June 20 in average year. But this year, it is said that hatched wild beetles were found in southern Ogawa-cho before June 2. So the shipment of wild beetles will be advanced this year.

Once Tatebayashi Pet Co., Ltd.(President Torazoh Tsubuku, Shimotsuga-gun Tochigi) was famous as a wholesaler of bird, but now by import regulation caused by Avian Influenza there are few birds imported from Taiwan. President Tsubuku said, "Birds come from Taiwan are imported only from summer to winter, and it will be difficult from winter to spring.", and the prospects for the future of birds market are poor.
On the other hand, this company will reach a season for shipment of beetles and stag beetles on around July 20. Farmed beetles were already arrived in mid May and wild beetles are arrived from end of June to beginning of July. Wild beetles are decreased compared to the past, it is comes from change of environment surrounding insects. Wild stag beetle and beetle spend their grub and pupa days in a dead tree that shiitake mushroom is cultivated. But as an increase in shiitake mushroom made in China, Japan's shiitake farmers decreased sharply. It would influence on that.

(3,502 hospitals as of May 25) This number is the first rank among similar companies and it is almost a half of veterinary hospitals in all over Japan. (There were 8,445 veterinary hospitals in 2005). If you show the health insurance card at the member veterinary hospital, you only pay 50 percent of treatment cost.
APM Japan extends the area of dog and cat's local grooming service. (Page 54)
APM Japan,Inc. (President Yoshio Fujiyasu, Shibuya-ku Tokyo) has entered into license contract on Japan basis with Aussie Pet Mobile which has succeeded in franchise business of pet service in the U.S. And this company made it public that the second wagon was completed and introduced, so the area of dog and cat's local grooming service was extended from June. This service was made in Setagaya-ku and the neighborhood from this March but now it extends to Meguro-ku, Ota-ku, Shinagawa-ku, Minato-ku, Shibuya-ku, Nakano-ku, Suginami-ku and Komae-shi.
The grooming wagon is made by joint development between Nissan Motor Co., Ltd and Headquarters of Aussie Pet Mobile and its strong point are not to use customer's electricity and water, not to drain the water off, sanitary and comfortable. The third wagon will start to operate in August. The company is looking for franchisee, too.

This is the second cemetery following Machida Izaumi Joen in Kanto area. The number of sales is 81 division and sizes are three types, 1.2 square meters, 1.6 square meters and 2.0 square meters. And there are two types of gravestone western model and designed model. The price is 879,500 yen (include tax, construction cost and keeping charge is excluded) with permanent right to use.

As still there are ordinary purchasers who are unwilling to accept such a grave, the graves are divided. But pet owners who want to be buries with their pets are surely increasing. Now pet loss becomes social problem. As it shows, the demand of the grave which pet can be buried will increase gradually.
BARF JAPAN holds "Dr. Ian Billinghurst Visiting Japan Seminar" (Page 46)
BARF JAPAN (President Kazuyo Hamada, Minato-ku Tokyo) held "Dr. Ian Billinghurst Visiting Japan Seminar" at Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe and Fukuoka from June 3 to June 6. The theme was "BARF.ﾐWhat is the right diet based on animal's evolution?" The seminar was held to commemorate the sale of Dr. Billinghurst's original food book "Doctor B's BARF" in Japan.
BARF stands for Biologically Appropriate Raw Food and it means biologically suitable diet made from raw bones and raw meat. In the seminar, Dr. Billinghurst explained most suitable food for dog and cat from points of view of the theory of evolution and biology and then introduced handmade food menu that useful in everyday life.
Dr. Billinghurst is an advocate of BARF and pioneer of handmade food theory. He writes to a lot of magazines concerning dog's nutrition and health, while works as a veterinary at New South Wales in Australia and plays an active part on TV and radio. His books are "THE BARF DIET", "GIVE YOUR DOG A BONE" and so on.

Petcity Co., Ltd. which is 100 percent subsidiary company of Aeon Co., Ltd.decided the assumption of Mr. Ryoji Mamesaya as new president at the general meeting of stockholders and the board of directors on May 17. He transferred from Aeon in this March and acted as the adviser, while former President Mr. Hiroshi Okada was reinstated in North Japan Company of Aeon. Petcity will open 15 stores and aim at further development under the new order.
Large-sized water tanks increase sales gradually (Page 66)
Sano Kansyogyo Co., Ltd. (Sano-shi Tochighi) sold a lot of small-sized water tanks by appearance of "Room mate" which made small-sized water tank popular at big city area in the 1990s. After that, 60~90 centimeters water tank was sold very well. But about 4 years ago, the main currents of water tank became 30 centimeters or under cube water tank. So most of the shipments were occupies by this size of water tanks at the company. However this trend also showed a change. Instead of 30 centimeters water tank, large-sized water tanks, just like 90 centimeters slim water tank, increased sales gradually from August of last year. President of Sano Kansyogo Mr. Hitoshi Yasuraoka said, "Even if it is difficult to keep fish at 90 centimeters water tank, we hope keepers to enjoy keeping fish at 60 centimeters water tank ." and showed enthusiasm to extend middle class keepers.

Japan Pet Care Association (Shinjuku-ku Tokyo) held the 54th ordinary general meeting at Arcadia Ichigaya (Chiyoda-ku Tokyo) on May 26. 104 out of 124 regular members (attendance 70, commission attendance 34) presented the meeting. And the activities and earnings of 2005 was reported and accepted.

Top Chain Yanase (Representative Shigeko Yanase, Higashi-osaka-shi Osaka) lends "Miyabi" to dog's fashion for free show as part of sales promotion. "Miyabi" is a handmade lead made by traditional craftsman of braid. It was on sale in 2002 and two types of lead, for large dogs (6 colors) and for small dogs (6 colors), are sold now.
Representative Ms. Shigeko Yanase who planed this said, "There no items designed Japanese style like Miyabi, it will attract attention at the fashion show. I would like to corporate a shop which wants to direct a show different from the other shops."
